Since her father’s death from pancreatic cancer in 2006, Meta Hartman, Senior Manager, Service Delivery at NGL has been organizing a golf outing in his memory to support meaningful causes. This year there were nine teams who participated in the Jack Murphy Memorial Golf Outing, held at Lake Wisconsin Country Club in Prairie du Sac, Wis.
In honor of Jack’s service in the Marines during the Vietnam War, Meta decided to raise money in support of Badger Honor Flight this year. The organization helps to ensure veterans can see the memorials in Washington, D.C. that have been erected in their honor. In recognition of their service and sacrifice to our country, Badger Honor Flight provides transportation, shirts, jackets, hats and meals to veterans.
Between the profits from the golf outing, raffle and clothing sale, plus donations $2,000 was raised for Badger Honor Flight. In addition to providing golf balls for the outing, NGL is matching the $2,000 Meta raised for our veterans in memory of her father. “Organizing a golf outing each year has been such a nice way to keep my dad’s memory alive and raise money for a good cause. We had to take a break for a couple of years because of the pandemic but I’m so happy we could continue the tradition again this year,” shared Meta. “My dad was an avid golfer, so holding a golf outing is a perfect fit and always brings back great memories of golfing with him. This year was an honor to raise money for an organization that serves our veterans.”
In previous years Meta and her family have raised money for the American Cancer Society or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (her mom has MS).
Congratulations to Meta on hosting a successful golf outing in memory of her father. His legacy lives on through her thoughtful spirit to give back and help others.
