NGL sponsors Waisman Center’s 50th Anniversary

We are proud to support local organizations that are making a difference in the lives of people in our community. NGL’s community giving philosophy incorporates our values and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. One of the organizations NGL donated to this year is the Waisman Center’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. We are proud to be the Lion’s Share Platinum Sponsor of this year’s activities and help fund clinical services, training, and research efforts focused on improving the lives of individuals and their families impacted by developmental disabilities and neurodegenerative diseases.

The Waisman Center works to improve lives and transform futures for individuals and families impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities and neurodegenerative diseases through its groundbreaking research, expert clinical care, interdisciplinary training, and community-driven outreach.

Eric Weber, a software developer at NGL, attended the Evening Safari with his wife and son. “My wife, son and I want to thank NGL for sponsoring the Waisman Center 50th Anniversary Evening Safari. Our son has been working with the Waisman Center since he was discharged from the NICU February 2022. He has an unnamed genetic disorder and relies on feeding pumps, gastric vents and oxygen. We don’t often go to places like the zoo because of his medical equipment, and the social stigma and isolation around having a child with disabilities we experience when going out. Having a night where we could go out as a family, not worry about any of the social stigmas and meet with parents going through similar issues was refreshing. Our son, James, was able to go on the carousel for the first time with the sensory friendly accommodations of the night,” shares Eric.

“We want to thank NGL for sponsoring community events, especially inclusive events like this. NGL’s donation made a large impact on my family and hundreds of others,” says Eric.

One of the anniversary celebrations was an Evening Safari at the Henry Vilas Zoo. It was a free, inclusive, sensory-friendly evening for children and families who receive services. The fun-filled evening offered animal encounters, carousel rides, family activities and food. Best of all, it provided families a safe, relaxed atmosphere with other families who are experiencing many of the same situations.
